This is one of the larger size Ultra Violet system we stock.

It's designed for a flow rate of up to 41 litres per minute.

This is a high rate and would usually be for a larger property / house or a light industrial property on a private / non-mains water supply.

Is This the Right Size for You?

UltraViolet filters should be sized according to the flow rate of water going through them.

Flow rate is different to water pressure ie "Bar". (This is because, for example, 3 Bar of pressure will result in a different flow rate on a 15 mm vs a 22mm diameter pipe).

Off Grid?

This unit requires mains electricty.

We do supply 12V 'off-grid" UVs, but only up to 22L/minute.

If you need a larger off-grid electricity UV then a solution is to buy smaller 12V UVs and split your incoming water so that it flows equally through the smaller UVs (Note the water needs to be split on a "manifold" basis - ie so it passes equally between the smaller UV units - not made to flow “in series”.)

A plumber should be able to arrange this easily.

Pre Filters

UV systems are long thin tubes with what looks like a fluorescent bulb sitting in the middle. (This is the UV lamp).

The incoming water flows down the tube, around the UV light/lamp.

Any micro-organism (ie bacteria and viruses) that are hit by the light will be rendered harmless.

However any sediment / particles might create a "shadow effect" / "umbrella effect" and help the micro-organism to escape bieng exposed to the UV light.

The pre-filter removes these sediment / particles.

Running Costs

The UV lamp/bulb needs changing every 12 months. This is regardless of usage. (For example; if you go away for a few months, to ensure total safety you would still need to change the lamp/bulb 12 months after installation.

The pre filters change rate will vary*. It depends on how much sediment / dirt they trap. This varies with the quality of your local incoming water - which can change after storms etc.

Assume the pre filter cartridges will last at least three months.

You can get good discounts here if you buy in bulk. But we suggest you don't do that until you know how many you need.

(You can store the pre-filters for years but people tend to 'lose them".)
