This is adequate for most normal size home ie with 3 or 4 bedrooms and average water usage. But some homes might need a larger version to work properly.

Please note this unit only softens but does not filter your water.
This is because water softeners are not water filters. Unlike filters, softeners don't improve the taste of the water.

Replacing the Filter Cartridges
Economical - Cartridges cost£147 to replace and last for 2 years.
Note: re Changing Filter / Clearance Room Under the Unit
If you have a tight space make sure to allow some clearance room underneath the fitted unit for changing the filter.
You need a minimum of 5cm / 2 inches inches below the white bowl for it to drop down and slide away.
The bracket is 8cm high and can be removed - provided the unit is sited securely.
Fitting
You can get a plumber or handyman to install the unit - this should take about 1 hour. Or you can DIY if you know how to cut a copper pipe. Inlet / Outlet - One inch BSP Brass Female as standard.
We have a water storage tank. We want to put the softener before the tank. Will the fact the softened water sits in the tank for a while have any effect?
Answer
For all practical purposes the answer is no.... If we had to give a time it would be days and weeks rather than hours but there are so many factors influencing this that is impossible to be specific without a full knowledge of the water chemistry.
But let's take a hypothetical "even if it did" position....even if it did, it would only affect the stored water and any in pipes etc down stream. Even if it did, and some scale formed - as soon as the water began to flow as normal again, the freshly treated water would mitigate any minimal scale build up that may theoretically occur by acting against it and clearing it out.
Sorry that we can't be more specific, but...for all practical purposes the answer is no.
