Troubleshooting Reverse Osmosis | No water produced
Solving Reverse Osmosis Water Filter Issues
Basic issue: No water produced
Water does not come out of the water filter tap…
First check the unit has been installed correctly - see how here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naPWgTt5b68
If you’re happy everything looks OK then…
CHECK: DOES YOUR TANK FEEL LIGHT / EMPTY
Is your reserve tank heavy, i.e. full of water?
(Tip: Shake / rock the tank.)
RESULT: YOUR TANK FEELS HEAVY
and you can feel water sloshing inside then go to straight to the RO Tank issues check
RESULT: YOUR TANK FEELS LIGHT / EMPTY
If your tank feels light please check the following:
CHECK 1) IS THERE A WATER SUPPLY?
Remove pipe from inlet on lower housing:
Does water come out of the tube? If not then (a) check your mains water supply (b) If there is mains water, check the connection from the water supply to the filter.
Locate the T bar tap (that sits on the copper pipe). Turn the T bar tap all the way in and out two or three times. (Don't overforce it. Just turn it fully in and out).
This is to clear any possible blockage inside the pipe (scale can build up and block the flow into the pinhole)
Still no water?
CHECK 2) ARE ALL THE CONNECTIONS BETWEEN THE WATER SUPPLY AND ALL OPEN
i) Check the "blue tap" shut off valve is ON (if you have one fitted)
ii) Check and correct any kinks in the feed pipe.
CHECK 3) CHECK WATER FLOWS INTO THE TANK
Close the tank valve ie turn lever to 90 degree angle
Remove the tubing that goes into the tank.
RESULT: WATER DOES NOT FLOW OUT OF THIS TUBE
If water does NOT flow out of this tube, you need to go through the Process of Elimination
Please check this Process of Elimination Reverse Osmosis problem solving checklist
RESULT: WATER DOES FLOW OUT OF THIS TUBE
If water DOES FLOW out of the tube leading into the tank please go to Check your RO Tanks for issues
Please note; none of these simple checks / actions require any expertise.
If you cannot do them yourself, you could ask a local handyperson.
