Whole House Reverse Osmosis on Private / Raw Water Supply
If you use our whole of property Reverse Osmosis on a private or non-mains water supply (e.g. boreholes, wells, rivers, etc.), you may need to change the cartridges more frequently and so incur additional filter replacement costs.
This depends on the quality of your incoming water - usually it's the amount of sediment that makes the difference.
Adding extra pre-filtration
If the incoming water quality is particularly poor, you should be able to add extra pre-filtration.
For example, a typical sediment pre-filter costs around £100 for the unit and approximately £23 for the cartridges every 3 to 6 months, though you may need to change them more often. (We can supply these.)
Because the variables affecting feed-water quality are so wide, and can change - for example with the seasonal water supply or for other reasons - we can't tell you in advance exactly what your particular supply will need.
In the majority of cases, assuming the incoming water is reasonable, this won't be an issue and you probably won't need additional pre-filtration. We're simply being transparent so you can plan accordingly.
The best approach on a private supply
If you're on a private supply, the best approach is usually to get the main whole house RO unit unit and retrofit any pre-filtration if it proves necessary.
The system should work fine in most cases. But please be aware that if you're essentially drawing from a large stagnant source - such as an old quarry - rather than a reasonable supply such as a rain-fed stream or aquifer, it may not be suitable, and/or additional treatment might be needed. (In rare cases it might not be suitable at all.)

UV filtration included
Finally, the unit comes with ultraviolet (UV) filtration included, so you shouldn't need the separate UV filtration normally required with private or raw water supplies.
