Quick overview of fitting a Scale Centurion whole house system

You can fit a Scale Centurion unit yourself if you are comfortable doing basic plumbing, or you can ask a plumber/ handyman to do it for you.

Here is a simple overview of how a typical DIY installation is done on the incoming mains for a Scale Centurion unit whole house system

  • Turn off the mains water supply and open a cold tap to release pressure.
  • Decide where on the incoming mains you want the Scale Centurion to sit (usually fairly close to the stopcock, before the pipework branches around the house).
  • Consider the units dimensions and allow an inch or so of clearance for cartrdige changing (full details on each model size product page)
  • Cut out a short section of the existing copper/plastic pipe where the unit will go, allowing enough room for the housing and fittings.
  • Mount the unit bracket securely on the wall or a solid surface so the water pipework is not taking the weight.
  • Use push-fit fittings and short runs of 15 mm or 22mm plastic pipe to take the water through the Scale Centurion housing and back into the main line.
  • Preferably create a simple pipework bypass around the unit, with shut-off valves before and after the filter, so you can isolate it easily for future cartridge changes.
  • Double-check all connections, then slowly turn the water back on and check carefully for leaks.
